ヨハネによる福音書第1章（欽定訳）

１章

1.　始めに言葉があった。そしてその言葉は天の神と共にあった。そしてその言葉は天の神であった。

2.　彼は初めに天の神と共におられた。

3.　全てのものは、彼を通して存在するようになった。そして存在するもののうち、彼によらないものは何もなかった。

4.　彼のうちに命があった。そしてその命は人々の光であった。

5.　そして光は闇の中に現れた。[1]しかし闇はそれを覆わなかった。

6.　天の神から遣わされていた一人の人がいた。その人の名はヨハネといった。

7.　彼は証しのために来た。光についての証しをするためであり、彼を通して全ての人が信じるためである。

8.　彼は光ではなかった。しかし、光についての証しをするためにいた（遣わされていた）。

9.　全ての人を照らす真理の光があって、この世界[2]に来ようとしていた。

10.　彼はこの世界におられ、そしてこの世界は彼によってできたが、この世界は彼を知らなかった。

11.　彼はご自分のもののところにお出でになった。しかしご自分の者は彼を受け入れなかった。

12.　しかし、彼を受け入れた全ての人、彼の名を信じている人々に、彼は天の神の子となる権利をお授けになった。

13.　その人々は血統によらず、また肉の意思によらず、また人の意思によらず、天の神によって生まれたのである。

14.　そして、言葉は肉体となって私たちの間に住まわれた[3]。そして私たちは彼の栄光を見た。父のただお一人の御子としての栄光であって、恵みと真理とで満ちていた。

15.　ヨハネは彼の証をし、そして大声で叫んで言った。「この方こそ、私が『私の後からお出でになる方は私よりも優れた方です。なぜなら彼は私よりも先におられたからです』と言っていたお方です。」

16.　そして、彼に満ちているものから私たち皆は受け、そのうえ恵みの上に恵みを与えられた。

17.　法はモーセを通して与えられた。しかし、恵みと真理とはイエス・キリストを通して来たからである。

18.　いまだかつて、誰も天の神を見た者はいない。父の懐におられるひとり子だけが、天の神（彼）を明らかにされたのである。

19.　ところで、これが、ユダヤ人たちがエルサレムから送ってきた祭司たちやレビ人たちの、「あなたは誰ですか」という問いに対するヨハネの証しである。

20.　彼は、しかし告白して否定せず、「私はキリストではない。」と告白した。

21.　すると彼らは彼に問うた。「それなら何ですか？あなたはエリヤですか？」彼は言った。「いいえ。私ではありません。」「あなたは預言者ですか？」すると彼は答えた。「いいえ。」

22.　その時、彼らは彼に言った。「あなたは誰なのですか。私たちを遣わした人たちに答えられるようにして下さい。あなた自身をどう考えていますか？」

23.　彼は言った。「私は預言者イザヤが言っていた、『荒野で「主の道をまっすぐにせよ」と叫んでいる、声』です。」

24.　ところで、遣わされていた人々はファリサイ派の人々であった。

25.　そこで彼らは彼に尋ねて言った。「もしあなたがあのキリストでも、エリヤでも、預言者でもないのなら、どうしてあなたはバプテスマをしているのですか？」

26.　ヨハネは彼らに答えて言った。「私は水でバプテスマをしています。しかし、あなたがたの中に、あなたがたの知らない人が立っておられます。

27.　私の後からお出でになる方というのはその方のことであって、私よりも優れた方で、私はその方のサンダルのひもを解いてさし上げる価値もありません。」

28.　これらの事は、ヨルダンの向こう側のベサバラでヨハネがバプテスマをしている場所で起こった。

29.　次の日、ヨハネはイエスが彼のほうに来るのを見た。そして言った。「見よ、この世界の罪を取り除く、天の神の子羊。

30.　この方こそ、私が『私の後から一人の人がお出でになる。その方は私よりも優れた方です。私よりも先におられたからです。』と言っていたお方です。

31.　私は彼を知りませんでした。しかし、彼はイスラエルに現わされるので、私は来て水でバプテスマをしているのです。」

32.　そして、ヨハネは証ししてこう言った。「私は聖霊が[4]天から鳩のように下って来られるのを見ました。そして彼は彼の上に留まっておられました。

33.　私は彼を知りませんでした。しかし、私に水でバプテスマをするために遣わされた方が、私に仰せになりました。『聖霊[5]が下ってきて彼の上に留まるのをあなたが見るならば、これこそ聖霊によってバプテスマをなさるお方だ。』

34.　そして、私は〔それを〕見ました。それでこの方こそが、天の神の御子だと証しをしたのです。」

35.　次の日、またヨハネは彼の二人の弟子と一緒に立っていた。

36.　そして、歩いておられるイエスを見て彼は言った。「見よ、天の神の子羊！」

37.　その二人の弟子は、彼が言うのを聞いて、彼らはイエスについて行った。

38.　その時イエスは振りかえり、そして彼らがついてくるのを見て、彼らに仰せになった。

39.　「あなたたちは誰を捜しているのか？」彼らは彼に言った。「ラビ（それは、訳するならば、先生という）あなたはどこにお泊りになるのですか？」

40.　彼は彼らに仰せになった。「来なさい。そして見てごらん。」彼らは行って、彼がお泊りになっている所を見た。そして、その日は彼と一緒に泊まった。（さて、そのときは凡そ第十の時であった）

41.　彼から聞いて彼について行った、二人の弟子の一人はアンドレで、シモンの兄弟であった。

52.　それから、彼は彼に仰せになった。「アーメン、アーメン、あなたたちに言う。これから汝らは天が開き、そして天の神の使いたちが人の子の上を上ったり下ったりするのを見ることになる。」

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.

Joh 1:3  All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being.

Joh 1:4  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

Joh 1:5  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.

Joh 1:6  There was a man sent from God; his name was John.

Joh 1:7  This one came as a witness, to bear witness concerning the Light, so that all might believe through him.

Joh 1:8  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

Joh 1:9  He was the true Light; He enlightens every man coming into the world.

Joh 1:10  He was in the world, and the world came into being through Him, and the world did not know Him.

Joh 1:11  He came to His own, and His own received Him not.

Joh 1:12  But as many as received Him, He gave to them authority to become the children of God, to those who believe on His name,

Joh 1:13  who were born, not of bloods, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but were born of God.

Joh 1:14  And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and of truth.

Joh 1:15  John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, This was He of whom I spoke: He who comes after me has been before me, for He was preceding me.

Joh 1:16  And out of His fullness we all have received, and grace for grace.

Joh 1:17  For the Law came through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Joh 1:18  No one has seen God at any time; the Only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

Joh 1:19  And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?

Joh 1:20  And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, I am not the Christ.

Joh 1:21  And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he says, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.

Joh 1:22  Then they said to him, Who are you so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say of yourself?

Joh 1:23  He said, I am "the voice of one crying in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord," as the prophet Isaiah said.

Joh 1:24  And they who were sent were from the Pharisees.

Joh 1:25  And they asked him and said, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor that Prophet?

Joh 1:26  John answered them, saying, I baptize with water, but One stands among you whom you do not know.

Joh 1:27  He it is who, coming after me, who has been before me; of whom I am not worthy to loosen the thong of His sandal.

Joh 1:28  These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Joh 1:29  The next day John sees Jesus coming to him and says, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Joh 1:30  This is He of whom I said, After me comes a Man who has been before me, for He preceded me.

Joh 1:31  And I did not know Him, but that He be revealed to Israel, therefore I have come baptizing with water.

Joh 1:32  And John bore record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from Heaven like a dove, and He abode on Him.

Joh 1:33  And I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water, that One said to me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon Him, He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

Joh 1:34  And I saw and bore record that this is the Son of God.

Joh 1:35  Again, the next day afterward, John stood with two of his disciples.

Joh 1:36  And looking upon Jesus as He walked, he says, Behold the Lamb of God!

Joh 1:37  And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

Joh 1:38  Then Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, What do you seek? They said to Him, Rabbi (which is called, being translated, Teacher), where do you live?

Joh 1:39  He says to them, Come and see. They came and saw where He lived, and stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.

Joh 1:40  One of the two who heard John and followed Him was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

Joh 1:41  He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being translated, the Christ).

Joh 1:42  And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus saw him, He said, You are Simon the son of Jonah; you shall be called Cephas (which translated is, A stone).

Joh 1:43  The day after, Jesus desired to go forth into Galilee. And He found Philip and said to him, Follow Me.

Joh 1:44  Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Joh 1:45  Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found Him of whom Moses wrote in the Law and the Prophets, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Joh 1:46  And Nathanael said to him, Can there be any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.

Joh 1:47  Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed in whom is no guile!

Joh 1:48  Nathanael said to Him, From where do You know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.

Joh 1:49  Nathanael answered and said to Him, Rabbi, You are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel!

Joh 1:50  Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these.

Joh 1:51  And He said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Hereafter you shall see Heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.

３章

1.　さて、ファリサイ派の人で、ニコデムスというユダヤ人たちの指導者[1]の一人である男性がいた。

2.　この人が夜、イエスの所に来て彼に言った。「ラビ、私たちはあなたが天の神からお出でになった教師であることを知っています。天の神があなた（彼）と共におられないなら、だれもあなたがなさっているようなこれらの徴を行う事は出来ないからです。」

3.　イエスは答え、そして彼に仰せになった。「アーメン、アーメン、私はあなた

に言う。人は上から[2]生まれなければ彼は天の神の王国[3]を見ることは出来ない。」

4.　ニコデムスは彼に言った。「人は（彼が）年を取っている時に、どうやって再び生まれることができるというのですか？　彼の母親の胎にもう一度入って生まれるというのですか？」

5.　イエスはお答えになった。「アーメン、アーメン、私はあなたに言う。人は水と霊[4]から生まれなくては天の神の王国に入ることはできない。

6.　肉から生まれるものは肉であり、霊から生まれるものは霊なのだ。

7.　私があなたに『あなたはもう一度生まれなければならない』と言ったことを驚いていてはいけない。

8.　風はその趣のままに吹いている。そして、あなたはその音は聞く。しかし、それがどこから来ていて、どこに行くのかを言う事はできない。霊から生まれる人も皆同様だ。」

9.　ニコデムスは答え、そしてイエスに言った。「どうしてそのような事があり得ますか？」

10.　イエスは答え、そして彼に仰せになった。「あなたはイスラエルの教師ではないか。それなのにこれらの事を知らないのか？

11.　アーメン、アーメン、私はあなたに言う。私たちは自分たちの知っていることを話している。そして、私たちが見たことを証している。それなのに[5]あなたがたは私たちの証しを受け入れていない。

12.　もし、私が地上でのことを話したのに[6]あなたがたが信じていないなら、私が天の事を話しても、どうしてあなたがたは信じるだろうか？

13.　天から下ってきた者、すなわち、天にいた人の子以外には、だれも天に昇った者はいない。

14.　モーセが荒野でヘビを上げたように、人の子も上げられなければならない。

15.　それは、彼を信じている人が誰も滅びないで永遠の命を持つためなのだ。」

16.　天の神は、ご自分のひとり子をお与えになったほどにこの世界を愛された。それは、誰でも彼を信じる者が滅びないで永遠[7]の命を持つためである。

17.　天の神がご自分の御子をこの世界に遣わされたのは、この世界を裁くためではなくこの世界が彼によって救われるためである。

18.　彼を信じている人は裁かれていない[8]。しかし、彼を信じていない人はすでに裁かれている。彼が天の神のひとり子の名を信じていなかったからである。

19.　そして、裁き[9]とはこのことである。すなわち、光がこの世界に来たが、人々は光よりも闇を愛した。彼らの行いが悪いからである。

20.　悪い行いをしている人は皆光を憎み、そして光に来ようとしない。彼の行いが明らかにされないためだ。

21.　しかし、真理を行っている人は光に来ている。それは、彼の行いが天の神にあっておこなっていた事が明らかにされるためである。

22.　これらの事の後、イエスと彼の弟子たちとはユダヤの地に入った。しかし彼は彼らと一緒にとどまって、バプテスマを行っていた。

23.　ところで、ヨハネもまたサリムに近いアエノンでバプテスマをしていた。なぜならそこに水がたくさんあったからである。そして、彼らは来てバプテスマを受けていた。

24.　ヨハネの投獄は、まだされていなかったからである。

25.　その時、ヨハネの弟子たちの中の何人かとユダヤ人たちとの間に、清めについての論争が起こった。

26.　そして、彼らはヨハネのところに来て彼に言った。「ラビ、あなたと一緒におられて、あなたが証しされていた人がヨルダンの向こうでバプテスマをしており、そして皆がその人の所に行っています。」

29.　花嫁の持ち主は花婿であり、花婿の友人は立って彼から聞き、花婿の声を大いに喜んでいる。私のこの喜びは満たされている。

30.　彼は強くなっていき、私は衰える。」

31.　上からお出でになる方は、すべての上におられ、地から来る者は、地の者で、地の言葉を語る。諸々の天から来られた方はすべての上におられる。

32.　そして、彼が証しをしている事共は、彼が見聞きしておられた事なのに、誰も彼の証を受け入れていない。

33.　しかし彼の証を受け入れた人は、天の神が真理であることを認めている。

34.　天の神が送られた方は、天の神の言葉を語っておられる。天の神が聖霊を無限にお与えになるからである。

35.　父は御子を愛し、そして彼の手にすべてのものを与えておられる。

36．御子を信じている人は永遠の命を持っているが、御子を[10]信じていない人は命を見ることがなく、天の神の[11]激しい怒りが彼の上に留まっている。

Joh 3:1  And there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

Joh 3:2  He came to Jesus by night and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no man can do these miracles which you do unless God is with him.

Joh 3:3  Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Joh 3:4  Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb and be born?

Joh 3:5  Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Joh 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Joh 3:7  Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again.

Joh 3:8  The Spirit breathes where He desires, and you hear His voice, but you do not know from where He comes, and where He goes; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.

Joh 3:9  Nicodemus answered and said to Him, How can these things be?

Joh 3:10  Jesus answered and said to him, Are you the teacher of Israel and do not know these things?

Joh 3:11  Truly, truly, I say to you, We speak what we know and testify what we have seen. And you do not receive our witness.

Joh 3:12  If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how shall you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

Joh 3:13  And no one has ascended up to Heaven except He who came down from Heaven, the Son of Man who is in Heaven.

Joh 3:14  But even as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

Joh 3:15  so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Joh 3:17  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.

Joh 3:18  He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

Joh 3:19  And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil.

Joh 3:20  For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

Joh 3:21  But he who practices truth comes to the Light so that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God.

Joh 3:22  After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea. And He stayed there with them and baptized.

Joh 3:23  And John was also baptizing in Enon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized.

Joh 3:24  For John had not yet been cast into prison.

Joh 3:25  Then a question from John's disciples arose with the Jews about purification.

Joh 3:26  And they came to John and said to him, Rabbi, He who was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you bore witness, behold, He baptizes, and all come to Him!

Joh 3:27  And John answered and said, A man can receive nothing unless it is given to him from Heaven.

Joh 3:28  You yourselves bear witness to me that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before Him.

Joh 3:29  He who has the bride is the bridegroom, but the friend of the bridegroom who stands and hears him rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. Then my joy is fulfilled.

Joh 3:30  He must increase, but I must decrease.

Joh 3:31  He who comes from above is above all; he who is from the earth is earthly and speaks from the earth. He who comes from Heaven is above all,

Joh 3:32  and what He has seen and heard, that He testifies, and no one receives His testimony.

Joh 3:33  He who has received His testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true.

Joh 3:34  For He whom God has sent speaks the Words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

Joh 3:35  The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.

Joh 3:36  He who believes on the Son has everlasting life, and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides upon him.

２章

1.　三日目にガリラヤのカナで結婚式があった。そしてイエスの母がそこにいた。

2.　ところで、イエスと彼の弟子たちもその結婚式に招待されていた。

3.　そして、彼らがワインを切らしたので、イエスの母は彼に言った。「あの人たちはワインを切らしてしまいました。」

4.　イエスは彼女に仰せになった。「女の人、あなたは私と何の関係がありますか？私の時はまだきていません。」

5.　彼の母はその僕たちに言った。「彼があなたたちに言う事は、何でもして下さい。」

6.　さて、ユダヤ人たちの清め（の慣習）に従って、そこに石できた水がめが六つあった。７５リッターから１１０リッターくらいは入るものであった。

7.　イエスは彼らに仰せになった。「水がめを水で満たしなさい。」そこで、彼らはそれらを口まで一杯に満たした。

8.　そして、彼は彼らに仰せになった。「さあ、いくらか汲みなさい。そしてそれをこの宴の幹事のところに持っていきなさい。」それで、彼らは持って行った。

9.　宴会の幹事がワインになった水を味見した時、また、それがどこから来たのかを知らなかったが、（しかし、水を汲んでいた僕たちは知っていたが）幹事は花婿を呼び、

10.　そして彼に言った。「だれでも最初に良いワインを出して、それからお客達に酔いがまわった時に、その時より悪い物を出すものだ。あなたはよいワインを今まで取っておいたのですか。」

11.　イエスは、徴の始めをガリラヤのカナで現わし、そして、彼の栄光を現わされた。そこで、彼の弟子たちは彼を信じた。

12.　この事の後、彼はカペルナウムに行かれた。彼と、彼の母、彼の兄弟たち、また彼の弟子たちも行ったが、彼らはそこに長い日数は滞在しなかった。

13.　さて、ユダヤ人のパスカが間近になっていた。そしてイエスはエルサレムに上って行かれた。

14.　さて、彼は神殿で牛や羊や鳩を売っている人々や、両替人たちが商売しているのをご覧になった。

15.　すると、彼は縄で鞭を作り、彼らを羊や雄牛と共に神殿から追放された。また両替人の金を投げ出してその机をひっくり返された。

16.　そして彼は鳩売りの人々に仰せになった。「これらのものを持ち去れ！私の父の家を商売人の家にするな！」

17.　その時、彼の弟子たちは、「おまえの家を思う熱意が私を食い尽くした。」と書いてあるのを思い起こした。

18.　そこでユダヤ人たちは答え、そして彼に言った。「あなたはわれわれにどんな徴を見せるのか、こんなことをするからには？」

19.　イエスは答え、そして彼らに仰せになった。「この神殿を破壊してみよ。そうしたら私は三日の内にそれを建て直そう。」

20.　その時そのユダヤ人達は言った「この神殿を建設するのに四十六年もかかっている。それなのに、あなたはそれを三日で建て直すのか？」

21.　しかし、彼はご自分の（彼の）体である神殿について仰せになっていたのである。

22.　そういうわけで、彼が死から復活した時、彼の弟子たちは彼がこのことを彼らに仰せになっていたのを思い起した。そして、御言葉とイエスが仰せになった言葉を信じた。

23.　ところで、彼がエルサレムにおられたときはパスカの時であり、祭りの最中であったので、多くの人々が彼がなさった徴を見て、彼の御名を信じた。

24.　しかし、イエスご自身は彼らにご自分をお委ねにならなかった。彼はすべての人をご存知であったからである。

25.　また、人間についての証しは誰からも必要となさらなかった。彼は人の内にあることを知っておられたからである。

Joh 2:1  And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. And the mother of Jesus was there.

Joh 2:2  And Jesus and His disciples were both invited to the marriage.

Joh 2:3  And when they lacked wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, They have no wine.

Joh 2:4  Jesus said to her, Woman, what do I have to do with you? My hour has not yet come.

Joh 2:5  His mother said to the servants, Whatever He says to you, do it.

Joh 2:6  And there were six stone waterpots there, according to the purification of the Jews, each containing two or three measures.

Joh 2:7  Jesus said to them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

Joh 2:8  And He said to them, Now draw out and carry it to the master of the feast. And they carried it.

Joh 2:9  When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water which was made wine (and did not know where it was from, but the servants who drew the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.

Joh 2:10  And he said to him, Every man at the beginning sets forth good wine, and when men have drunk well, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now.

Joh 2:11  This beginning of miracles Jesus did in Cana of Galilee. And it revealed His glory. And His disciples believed on Him.

Joh 2:12  After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples. And they did not stay there many days.

Joh 2:13  And the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Joh 2:14  And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting.

Joh 2:15  And when He had made a scourge of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, also the sheep and the oxen. And He poured out the money-changers' money and overthrew the tables.

Joh 2:16  And He said to those who sold doves, Take these things away from here. Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise.

Joh 2:17  And His disciples remembered that it was written, "The zeal of Your house has eaten Me up."

Joh 2:18  Then the Jews answered and said to Him, What sign do you show us, since you do these things?

Joh 2:19  Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.

Joh 2:20  Then the Jews said, This temple was forty-six years building, and will you rear it up in three days?

Joh 2:21  But He spoke of the temple of His body.

Joh 2:22  Therefore when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them, and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.

Joh 2:23  And as He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, at the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the miracles which He did.

Joh 2:24  But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all

Joh 2:25  and did not need that anyone should testify of man. For He knew what was in man.

５章

1.　これらのことの後で、ユダヤ人たちの祭りがあった。そしてイエスはエルサレムに上って行かれた。

2.　ところで、エルサレムの中に羊の門の近くに池があった。それはヘブル語でベセスダと言われるもので、五つの縁側（ベランダ）があった。

3.　これらの池で、非常に多くの病気の人や目の見えない人、足の悪い人、麻痺の人たちが水が動くのを待っていた。

4.　あるとき、天使が一人下ってきてその池に入り、水をかき回すのであるが、水がかき回されたその時、最初に足を踏み入れた人は誰でも、どんな病気があっても、その人は良くなったからである。

5.　さて、ある男性がそこにいた。その人は三十八年間体が弱っていた。

6.　イエスが彼がそこに横たわっているのをご覧になり、また、彼がすでに長い間その状態でいるのを知って、彼は彼に仰せになった。「あなたは良くなりたいか？」

7.　その病気の男性は彼に答えた。「ご主人、私には水が動いた時に、池に入れてくれる人がいないのです。私が行こうとしている間に、他の人が私より先に足を踏み入れてしまいます。」

8.　イエスは彼に仰せになった。「起きなさい。あなたのベッドを持って歩きなさい。」

9.　すると、その男性はすぐに良くなって、自分の（彼の）ベッドを取り上げ、そして歩いた。その日は安息日であった。

10.　それで、ユダヤ人たちは癒されたその人に（彼に）言った。「安息日だぞ、お前がベッドを運ぶのは違法[1]だ。」

11.　彼は彼らに答えた。「私を治して下さった方が、私に『あなたのベッドを取り上げて歩け。』と言いました。」

12.　その時彼らは彼に問うた。「『あなたのベッドを取り上げて歩け』と言った人とは誰なのか？」

13.　しかし、癒された人はそれが誰なのかを知らなかった。群衆がその場所にいたが、イエスは去って行かれたからである。

14.　後にイエスは彼を神殿の中で見つけ、そして彼に仰せになった。「見なさい。あなたは良くなった。もう罪を犯さないように。そうでないと、もっと悪い事があなたに起こる。」

15.　その男性は〔そこを〕離れ、そしてユダヤ人たちに彼を癒したのはイエスだったと告げた。

16.　このようなわけで、ユダヤ人たちはイエスを迫害し、また、彼を殺そうと思うようになった。なぜなら、彼が、これらのことを安息日になさったからである。

17.　しかしイエスは彼らにお答えになった。「私の父は今に至るまで働いておられる。そして私も働いてきた。」

18.　そういうわけで、ユダヤ人たちはより一層彼を殺そうと思うようになった。なぜなら、彼が安息日を破っただけではなく、天の神が彼の父であるとして、彼自身を天の神と同等にしたからである。

19.　ところで、イエスは答えそして彼らに仰せになった。「アーメン、アーメン、私はあなたがたに言う。人の子は、父がなさることを見ていること以外には、彼自身ではなにをする事もできない。彼がなさることは、なんでも息子も同じようにしているからだ。

20.　父は息子を愛し、また彼に、彼ご自身がしていることを全てお示しになっている。それは、彼がこれらの事よりももっと大いなる事ができるためであり、あなたがたが驚くためだ。

21.　それは、父が死人を復活させて命を彼らにお与えになったように、人の子も、彼が願っているものに命を与えるためなのだ。

22.　父は息子に全ての裁きをお委ねになっているから、誰も裁きをなさる事がない。

23.　それは、すべての人が父を崇めるように、息子をも崇めるようになるためだ。

24.　アーメン、アーメン、私はあなたがたに言う。私の言葉を聞いて私を遣わされた方を信じている人は永遠の命を持っている。そして、裁かれることがなく、死から命に移ってきている。

25.　アーメン、アーメン、私はあなたがたに言う。死人が天の神の息子の声を聞き、そして聞く人が生きる時が来ている。そして、今がその時だ。

26.　父は、彼自身のうちに命をお持ちであるように、彼は息子にも彼自身のうちに命を持つ事をお許しになったからだ。

27.　さらに彼に裁きを実行する権威もお与えになった。彼は人の子だからだ。

28.　この事に驚いていてはいけない。墓にいる人が、皆、彼の声を聞く時が来ているからだ。

29.　そして、良い事を行った人々が命の[2]復活に、また悪を行っていた人々が、滅亡のための復活をする時が迫っている。

30.　私は自分自身では何も出来ない。私は聞いているままに裁いている。そして私の裁きは正しい。私は私の思いではなく、私を遣わされた父の意志をしようと願っているからだ。

31.　もし、私が自分自身のことを証しているなら、私の証しは真実ではない。

32.　私について証しをする他の方がいる。そして、私は私について証ししているその証しは真実であることを知っている。

33.　あなたがたはヨハネに使いを送り、彼は真実について証しをした。

34.　しかし、私は人間からの証しを受け入ることはしない。私はあなたがたが救われるためにこれらのことを言っているのである。

35.　彼は燃えて輝いている灯火であった。そして、あなたがたはしばらくの間彼の光を楽しんでいた。

36.　しかし、私はヨハネよりも大いなる証しを持っている。なぜなら、父がそれを成し遂げるために私にお与えになっているわざそのものが、父が私を遣わされたという、私自身についての証しをすることなのだ。

37.　そして、私を遣わされた父自身が私について証しをなさった。あなたがたはどんな時でも彼の御声を聞いた事がないし、彼の御形を見た事もない。

38.　しかし、あなたがたはあなたがたの内に、彼の御言葉を留めていない。彼が遣わされたその者をあなたがたが信じていないからだ。

39.　あなたがたは聖書を調べている。その中にあなたがたは永遠の命があると考えているからだ。しかし、それらは私について証しをしているのだ。

40.　しかし、あなたがたは、命を持つために私のところに来ようとしない。

41.　私は人間からの栄誉を受けることはない。

42.　しかし、私はあなたがたが天の神に対する愛を持っていないことを知っている。

43.　私は私の父の名によって来たが、あなたがたは私を受け入れていない。もし、他の人が彼自身の名によって来たなら、あなたがたは彼を受け入れるのであろう。

44.　どうして、お互いの誉れは受けているのに、ただお一人の天の神からの誉れを受けようと望まないあなたがたは、信じることができるのか？

45.　私があなたがたを父に告発すると考えてはいけない。あなたがたを告発している人がいる。それは、・・あなたがたが信頼している、モーセその人だ。

46.　なぜなら、もしあなたがたがモーセを信じていたなら、あなたがたは私を信じていた。彼は私について書いたのだから。

47.　しかし、もしあなたがたが彼が書いた書を信じていないなら、どうしてあなたがたは私の言葉を信じようか？」

Joh 5:1  After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Joh 5:2  Now there is a pool at the Sheep Gate at Jerusalem, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches.

Joh 5:3  In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, of blind, lame, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

Joh 5:4  For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and troubled the water. Then whoever first stepped in after the troubling of the water was made whole of whatever disease he had.

Joh 5:5  And a certain man was there, who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.

Joh 5:6  When Jesus saw him lying, and knowing that he had spent much time, He said to him, Do you desire to be made whole?

Joh 5:7  The infirm man answered Him, Sir, when the water is troubled, I have no one to put me into the pool. But while I am coming, another steps down before me.

Joh 5:8  Jesus says to him, Rise, take up your bed and walk.

Joh 5:9  And immediately the man was made whole and took up his bed and walked. And it was a sabbath on that day.

Joh 5:10  Therefore the Jews said to him who had been healed, It is the sabbath. It is not lawful for you to take up the bed.

Joh 5:11  He answered them, He who made me whole said to me, Take up your bed and walk.

Joh 5:12  Then they asked him, Who is the man who said to you, Take up your bed and walk?

Joh 5:13  And he did not know Him who had cured him, for Jesus had moved away, a crowd being in the place.

Joh 5:14  Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, Behold, you are made whole. Sin no more lest a worse thing come to you.

Joh 5:15  The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him whole.

Joh 5:16  And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the sabbath day.

Joh 5:17  But Jesus answered them, My Father works until now, and I work.

Joh 5:18  Then, because of this, the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He not only had broken the sabbath, but also said that God was His father, making Himself equal with God.

Joh 5:19  Then Jesus answered and said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of Himself but what He sees the Father do. For whatever things He does, these also the Son does likewise.

Joh 5:20  For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all the things that He Himself does. And He will show Him greater works than these, so that you may marvel.

Joh 5:21  For as the Father raises the dead and makes alive, even so the Son of Man makes alive whomever He wills.

Joh 5:22  For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son,

Joh 5:23  so that all should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Joh 5:24  Truly, truly, I say to you, He who hears My Word and believes on Him who sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death to life.

Joh 5:25  Truly, truly, I say to you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they who hear shall live.

Joh 5:26  For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has given to the Son to have life within Himself,

Joh 5:27  and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.

Joh 5:28  Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves shall hear His voice,

Joh 5:29  and shall come forth, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have practiced evil to the resurrection of condemnation.

Joh 5:30  I can do nothing of My own self. As I hear, I judge, and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of the Father who has sent Me.

Joh 5:31  If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true.

Joh 5:32  There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true.

Joh 5:33  You sent to John, and he bore witness to the truth.

Joh 5:34  But I do not receive testimony from man, but these things I say so that you might be saved.

Joh 5:35  He was a burning and shining light, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.

Joh 5:36  But I have greater witness than that of John, for the works which the Father has given Me that I should finish them, the works which I do themselves witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

Joh 5:37  And He sending Me, the Father Himself, has borne witness of Me. Neither have you heard His voice at any time nor seen His shape.

Joh 5:38  And you do not have His Word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He has sent.

Joh 5:39  You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life. And they are the ones witnessing of Me,

Joh 5:40  and you will not come to Me that you might have life.

Joh 5:41  I do not receive honor from men.

Joh 5:42  But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.

Joh 5:43  I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me. If another shall come in his own name, him you will receive.

Joh 5:44  How can you believe, you who receive honor from one another and do not seek the honor that comes from God only?

Joh 5:45  Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you, Moses, in whom you trust.

Joh 5:46  For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed Me, for he wrote of Me.

Joh 5:47  But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe My Words?
